Fall 2003

  • Landscape design (complete)
  • Create Plot outline (partly complete, need some asphalt removed prior to completion)
  • Initiate funding and materials collection (ongoing)
  • Install irrigation system, drainage for roof runoff, lay asphalt path along building (PAUSD)

Winter 2003/4

  • Build raised beds (parent volunteers)
  • Rototill under beds (parent volunteers)
  • Fill beds with soil (parent volunteers)
  • Test and remediate soil, plant cover crops (students)
  • Install water systems (drip, sprinkler, etc. parent volunteer)
  • Plant trees in orchard and boulevard (between room 8 and portable, students)
  • Plan plantings for permanent beds (students)

Spring 2004

  • Plant permanent beds (students)
  • Plant vegetable beds (students, ongoing)

Summer 2004

  • Maintain and harvest garden (community members and neighbors)
  • Water is automatic and maintained (PAUSD and parent volunteers)

Future (Fall 2004 and onward)

  • Maintain and enhance the garden
  • Begin developing garden sites for other barren areas on the school grounds
